Replace hook assembly every 2 months
The Shuttle Hook (GO-2002) and Shuttle Hook Bracket (173101) are the highest-wear components on the DD-5. A worn hook causes skipped stitches, thread breakage, and looping on the underside of the seam. Replace both together — they wear in tandem.

The Oiler (D03002) feeds thread lubricant directly into the needle path. Running dry accelerates needle bar wear and causes heat damage to the thread at the eye. Check fill level at every shift change — takes 10 seconds.
